Job Description

The position of Junior Software Developer will be based at the NEC Software Solutions Bracknell office working on Oracle Web based applications supplied to both local authorities in the UK and to central government clients. Solutions are delivered as software or as hosted SAAS solutions.

This role will be working within one of the development teams where, you will build upon your experience and knowledge across the different aspects of software development using Agile Scrum and Waterfall methodologies. You will work as part of a team on new development projects as well as helping maintain and enhance existing client software applications.

This is a crucial development role that will allow you the ability to learn and enhance you technical skills and interpret client requirements along with building your business domain knowledge.

On a daily basis you will be developing technical solutions across technologies including:

• 
  Oracle Databases
• 
  PL-SQL Programming
• 
  Oracle Apex
  
• Oracle XML DB
• 
  SOAP and REST Web services

You will take full responsibility for the functionality you develop, ensuring that it delivers on the business needs, engages users, and is maintainable and robust. You will write both functional code and associated unit tests, ensuring compliance within the development standards.

Qualifications

• Experience of development of applications using an Oracle database and toolset
• Proficient in SQL and PL-SQL skills
• Some exposure to XML, JSON, SOAP, REST would of benefit.
• Relevant Computer Sciences or Technical Degree.
• Strong interpersonal/team skills.
• Must be able to cultivate an adaptable positive attitude to problem solving
• Will be highly motivated and demonstrate an excellent mix of analytical and technical skills.
• Will be able to demonstrate a clear and concise communication style.
• You will have a thirst for knowledge and a willingness to learn new skills.
