With the rise in the number of children across Wales being electively educated at home by their parents, we are looking to employ a second Coordinator who will manage their own caseload. Working closely with families you will:

• be a named contact within the authority for home educators;
• visit families and provide guidance and support for parents and carers who have elected to educate their children;
• write reports and share these with parents based upon visits;
• be satisfied that an appropriate full-time and suitable education is taking place;
• understand and implement the Welsh Government statutory guidance on children educated at home;
• assist with completing statistical and statutory returns.

You must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and will have the ability to respond to a range of queries and challenges.

You should possess a minimum of 4 GCSEs (grade A to C) or equivalent, to include English Language and Maths.

This post is based in Port Talbot Civic Centre; however, for the time-being you will be provided with IT equipment to allow you to work from home. The Council has recently introduced a new hybrid working policy which allows for the possibility of working remotely longer term.

It would be desirable if the appointed candidate was able to communicate through the medium of welsh.
