Job Title – IT Helpdesk Technician
Department – Information Technology
Reports to – IT Manager
Job Summary
The IT Helpdesk Technician is primarily responsible to assist customers who are experiencing any procedural or operating difficulties with the use of IT applications, products or services. This position is responsible to ensure that an effective solution is provided to the user. The IT Helpdesk Technician requires handling confidential information in an appropriate manner, interactions must be handled with diplomacy and tact. They must be able to gauge customer’s technical ability and communicate with them in an appropriate manner.
Key areas of responsibility
Provides support for all Information Technology products and services.
Support customers; answering questions, troubleshooting problems, teaching or instructing customers regarding software or hardware functionality.
Records required customer and problem information in company’s Help Desk Software ticketing system.
Updates tickets with appropriate journal entries of activities, closes tickets with resolution upon completion.
Determines most effective manner to resolve customer’s technical issues.
Engages in research & in-depth troubleshooting to resolve issues, consulting manager when necessary.
Experience in hardware, software, network trouble shooting, basic operation system functionality.
Verify that suggested solutions effectively resolve the users’ problems through verbal or e-mail follow-up.
Elevates complex and or high priority issues to appropriate support group.
Documents all necessary process (site maps, password lists).
Manage the set up and deployment of employee’s PCs.
Handle inventory control of IT equipment.
Works on IT related projects, as assigned by manager.
Help to promote safe work practices and higher standards of performance.
Support and uphold HS&E policies and procedures of NCS and the customer.
Align individual goals with NCS’s corporate goals, while adhering to the NCS Promise
Participate in Personal Development for Success (PDS)
Other duties, relevant to the position, shall be assigned as required
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Bachelor’s or Diploma in Information Technology or related discipline
Minimum 7 years of information technology; required
Experience in hardware, software, network trouble shooting, basic operation system functionality
Industry related experience, preferably in oilfield technology development and oilfield services
Customer service experience; asset
Experience with Oracle Cloud ERP; asset
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suites
Organizational skills, with ability prioritize with little direction
Work with other teams, exhibit effective communication and interpersonal skills with all levels
High level of efficiency & work ethic, with attention to details
Hands – on approach to problem solving
Ability to research solutions or information regarding technical issues
Ability to handle stressful situations
Additional Information
Status: Overtime Exempt
Employment Classification: Full-time, Regular
Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm, may require after hours/weekend work
Special Equipment: Cellphone and Laptop
Travel: Required to travel between NCS locations in Alberta
Bonus Eligibility: 10%
