Under the direction of the Manager/Supervisor, the Soft Gel Encapsulation Lead Hand is responsible for assisting the Supervisor on a daily basis, ensure the daily Soft Gel Encapsulation schedule is executed as expected. Responsible for adhering to the Safe Work Procedures (SWP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs) that are in effect ensuring the quality and quantity of product produced, while taking into consideration the company’s commitment to our seven Core Values such as Sustainability (people, the planet, and profit) in the planning and implementation of all actions related to the area of responsibility. Job Description:

• Oversee daily activities of machine operators, dry prep operators and assign individual worker to each machine ensuring fair rotation of workers among encapsulation machines as required
• Focus primarily on working with the crew, demonstrating a positive attitude and strong work ethic
• Competently operate any encapsulation machine within a team environment, monitor encapsulation operations closely and report any problems immediately to the supervisor/manager
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting for the team while recognizing the need to escalate any machine problems to the maintenance department
• Understand production priorities, scheduling, and directing the team to meet daily production schedules
• Coordinate production with Lead Hands on other shifts and ensure proper shift turnover
• Provide job training to Soft Gel Encapsulation staff
• Observe closely the work procedures and suggest improvements
• Ensure the availability of required materials for the next production runs
• Plan and execute all aspects of Change Overs to ensure efficiencies are met and gained
• Assist with S.M.E.D. improvements on Change Overs by helping track data, implementing improvements and giving feedback for assessing current status
• Complete, check, and sign manufacturing documents after encapsulation is completed to ensure Good Documentation Practice requirements are met and forward them to the Manufacturing Supervisor
• Manage the department in the absence of the supervisor and/or manager
• Assist Supervisor in doing probation, quarterly and annually review on workers
• Report all performance related concerns to the Supervisor/Manager in a timely manner
• Assist Supervisor and/or Manager in conducting accident investigation and performance management
• Comply with company policies and procedures and maintain regular work attendance
• Follow and adhere to all given instructions including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP)
• Strictly adhere and observe all safety policies as outlined in the company policies and training sessions
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements:
Technical

• Knowledge of GMP
• Prior manufacturing experience in Soft Gel Encapsulation
• Mechanically inclined for machinery maintenance
• Physical ability to repetitively lift, stand, climb, and bend, etc. within a manufacturing environment
• Proven supervisory, motivational and coaching skills
• Quality conscious
• Experience with computer software such as Microsoft Outlook and Excel
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
