Who is the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator?

The National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) commenced operations in 2013 as a national entity responsible for

regulating all vehicles in Australia over 4.5 tonnes gross vehicle mass. Located in Brisbane, the NHVR minimises the

compliance burden on the heavy vehicle transport industry, reduces duplication and inconsistencies across state and

territory borders, and ultimately for the heavy vehicle business with government in Australia.

Position Description | Finance Officer NSW

The Corporate Services division provides strategic vision and purpose through strategic planning, corporate governance,

performance improvement and the delivery of corporate services.

Primary Objectives

Contribute to the effective functioning of the finance team and undertake processing tasks in relation to accounts

payable and other accounting processes, prepare reports, reconciliations and correspondence.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities

• Maintain and update the Promaster expense management system including setup and training of new users.

• Maintain and update the travel approval system including setup and training of new users.

• Management of credit cards including new applications, card cancellations and reconciliation of credit card

transactions.

• Assist with management of Cab charge account including new applications, issuing of digital tickets, e-tickets and

cards.

• Manage, maintain and reconcile financial management systems within set timeframes in accordance with internal

procedures and processes.

• Assist other members of the Finance team in carrying out processing functions including invoice entry via automated

accounts payable system, and purchase order creation and amendments within set timeframes in accordance with

internal procedures and processes

• Maintain and update registers and produce reports as required and directed by Manager Financial Services.

• Provide expert advice and support to clients and stakeholders in relation to financial management services and

processes.

• Contribute as a key member of the Finance team including providing support to other finance staff as required.

• Contribute to identifying opportunities for improving efficiency and effectiveness of work practices and processes.

• Identify and resolve issues or errors as they arise.

• Adhere to all NHVR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with NHVR internal processes.

• Comply with WH&S policies and procedures and contribute and promote a safe and health work environment.

Skills and Capabilities

• Demonstrated understanding of financial policy and processes and compliance with legislative and NHVR business

requirements.

• Demonstrated experience in financial processing and associated validation techniques.

• Demonstrated ability in utilising financial management systems and Microsoft Office Suite.

• Demonstrated problem solving skills

• Intermediate Excel skills.

• Effective time management skills when dealing with multiple priorities.

• Good attention to detail

• Demonstrated ability to work with people and teams, and contribute to a positive and high performance team.

• Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.

Qualifications and Experience

Highly Regarded:

• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in accounting and finance including accounts payable and accounts receivable.

• Demonstrated skills & experience in data entry into financial systems.

• Demonstrated experience in working within and contributing to a high performing team.

• Experience in providing a customer focussed service.
