About the role

Work Specification Delivery Engineer, Permanent

We are currently hiring for a Work Specification Delivery Engineer to develop work specifications within Electricity Transmission (ET) Asset Operations (AO); to support the Self Delivery model by delivering work specifications, gathering insights and identifying best practice from across Asset Operations, and to inform and continuously develop the unit cost of interventions.
The purpose of the role is to:

* Develop new work specifications to enable internal craft and engineer resource in delivering maintenance, refurbishment and replacement of high voltage substation equipment
* Gather work content, time, cost and material information from Asset Operations Zonal teams and quantity surveyors to develop and improve existing work specifications, ensuring best practice and lessons learned are applied across AO 
* Support the preparation of budget estimates for development and delivery stages. Inform the central costbook database to ensure costs are maintained and up to date 
* Ensure legislation, commercial, financial, risk management, governance processes and procedures are documented as required 

About you

As the Work Specification Delivery Engineer, you will have:

* Knowledge of engineering, and substations, encompassing electrical, mechanical, civil and excellent technical knowledge relating to the electrical and safety aspects of substation plant.
* A general understanding of electrical equipment.
* Basic knowledge of National Grid’s operational policies, procedures and processes
* Good skills with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint 
* Project delivery experience  
* NVQ level 3 or Apprenticeship in engineering subject. 
* Minimum HNC or equivalent in an Electrical or mechanical engineering subject.
