National General Insurance Hiring for Claims Customer Service at New York, NY Full Time

This role is a customer service role handling heavy phones, answering claimant questions about their auto damage claims. Call center experience a plus.

Job Summary:
Serves as initial contact for claim ing. Responsible for guiding the caller to the appropriate party based on their need and the relevant policy or claim. This role is also responsible for assisting where needed with training and special projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Communicates effectively with internal and external customers
• Identifies the customer’s need and responds appropriately and efficiently with a sense of urgency
• Follows established guidelines specific to each claim or inquiry
• Locates, confirms and documents appropriate information, which may involve multiple systems
• Remains current on constant process updates and technology used within the company
• May utilize multiple communication channels including but not limited to telephone, fax, email, or online chat, to assist the client
• Acts as a mentor and assists with training as needed
• May assist with special projects

Education and Experience

• High School diploma or equivalent experience

Functional Skills

• Bilingual in English and Spanish
• Experience in customer service or call center with the ability to empathize with the customer
• Ability to multi-task (i.e. talking and typing simultaneously) in a fast-paced environment
• Organizational and time management skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and basic internet skills
• Professional verbal and written communication skills
• High degree of initiative, mature judgment and discretion
• Ability to navigate through multiple systems with speed and accuracy

The base range offered for the role is: $37,000 – $46,475.00 and may vary based on internal equity, and job-related skills, knowledge and experience; among other factors.
