General Description
Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Director of Environmental Services is responsible to plan and direct the activities of the maintenance, housekeeping and laundry staff. The Director is accountable for the upkeep of the grounds, Facility and equipment in a safe and efficient manner. Plans, develops, organizes, implements, evaluates, and directs the maintenance staff, its programs and activities. The Director is also responsible for the daily operations of the housekeeping and laundry department, including staffing, supply ordering, and supervision.
Essential Duties
1. Provides a safe, clean environment for residents in accordance with Resident Care Policies and Procedures.
2. Acts appropriately under the direction of the Executive Director as an active member of the interdisciplinary team.
3. Supervises staff and assists with the day-to-day collection, laundering, and distribution of linens, garments, etc. in accordance with Company procedures. Monitors that resident’s personal items are safeguarded.
4. Directs staff and supervises the maintenance department while verifying that the Facility and its equipment are properly maintained for resident comfort and convenience.
5. Supervises staff and assists in all aspects of cleaning and maintaining the Facility interior and grounds; verifies that resident rooms are safe, comfortable, and maintained in an attractive manner and that resident’s personal items are safeguarded. Verifies that cleaning schedules are followed, and coordinates daily housekeeping services with other departments.
6. Coordinates daily laundry services with other departments.
7. Develops and maintains written maintenance procedures.
8. Maintains the Facility’s fire and safety programs.
9. Verifies compliance with lockout/tagout procedures.
10. Verifies Facility equipment is compliant with state regulations.
11. Demonstrates ability to adjust to changes in shift assignments to meet Facility needs.
12. Trains and directs staff, schedules adequate coverage, and evaluates work performance.
13. Prepares requisitions for necessary supplies and equipment and submits these to the Executive Director with an emphasis on inventory control.
Qualifications Education/Training: High school graduate preferred, or experience in a related field. College Degree helpful A.
