Murphy Group Looking for Senior Engineer – Stratford at Stratford Full Time

Engineer / Senior Engineer – Civil Engineering – London/ Stratford – CP6

Murphy are keen to hear from confident Building / Civil Engineering Engineer / Senior Engineer candidates regarding opportunities on the CP6 Anglia Framework. You will play a pivotal role in the successful development and implementation of rail projects, specifically enhancements and stations.

During the pre-construction stages your focus will be on assisting the team in planning construction methodologies and influencing design organisations to ensure we develop designs that can be built efficiently and safely. You will also take a leading role on the planning and execution of site surveys required to complete the design works. Thereafter in the implementation phases you will be responsible for the successful execution of the construction works, with a keen eye on achieving right-first-time quality and being commercially aware. Dependent upon your experience you may take on a management role too, managing sections of the work and other engineers.

The Project
Murphy has been awarded one of three multi-billion-pound contracts by Network Rail for the South of England, worth up to £7bn for Control Period 6 (2019-2024).  The multi-discipline framework will deliver projects of varying value, including stations, buildings and civils, electrifications, power, signalling, telecommunications and track. This is initially in place for a five-year period but has the option of three one-year extensions if required.

This specific role will focus on two large enhancement projects which include new railway stations, signalling, OLE, track, E&P, MEPH, buildings & civils, and telecoms.

What you will be doing:
* Regular liaison with designer’s to ensure design are efficient and safe to build
* Input into the ‘development plan’ to document the planned construction methodologies
* Production of detailed construction methodologies produced by the project teams e.g. WPP / TBS / RA’s and quality documentation e.g. ITPs
* Confidently communicate with site managers, site supervisors, and foremen to ensure full understanding of information provided.
* Excellent interpersonal skills and assertive when required
* Assist with the management of temporary works e.g. TWR, design briefs, permits
* Advise engineers on setting out methods and techniques.
* Ensure that the drawings and specification documents contain sufficient, accurate information for construction of the works. Formally request any missing information in sufficient time to allow the programme to proceed without delay.

Who are are looking for: 
* PTS & SMSTS (Preferred)
* Professional member (or working towards) of the ICE / IStructE (preferred)
* Experience in the following areas (note, candidates need not have experience of all elements) Involvement in the planning / design development of rail projects
* Ancillary railway civils
* Station buildings, platforms, canopies, AFA bridges
* Building services
* Highway / public realm works

* Good knowledge of relevant industry standards (design / construction)
* Awareness of CSM-RA and CDM   
* Computer literate with strong skills in Microsoft Excel and other design-based software such as AutoCad
