Section Engineer – London- Thames AMP7 Framework
Murphy are recruiting a Section Engineer based in London to join us in delivering clean and wastewater projects ranging from £1m-30m on Thames Water AMP7 Framework. You will be adept at managing and mentoring junior engineers and able to assists Construction / Site Manager in all aspects of construction.
What you will be doing
* Establish and promote best practice in health, safety and environmental matters in conjunction with the SHQE department.
* Supervise assistant and site engineers
* Support with temporary works design schemes
* Take a personal interest in identifying, coaching and developing key staff.
* Monitor the work under their control to ensure that any unsafe work conditions and non-compliance with Company policies and procedures are promptly remedied.
* Maintain good working relations with client / designer / Team, together with our supply chain.
* Advise engineers on setting out methods and techniques.
* Ensure that the drawings and specification documents contain sufficient, accurate information for construction of the works. Formally request any missing information in sufficient time to allow the programme to proceed without delay.
* Communicate with foremen and supervisors to ensure full understanding of information provided.
* Support with the selection and requisition of materials and plant for the use in the construction process.
* Prepare written risk assessments and method statements for the control of the works.  
* Keep a full and accurate daily site diary, including any changes/variations, subcontractor’s attendance, and records of work related discussions with client / designer / project team.
* Produce that inspection and test plans are completed as required by the PMP / Specification, including a check of dimension accuracy and quality.

Who we’re looking for
* Significant heavy civils experience ideally in Utilities and water
* Highly competent in surveying and setting out techniques and able to teach others.
* Experience managing and mentoring junior engineers
* Excellent knowledge of current civil engineering legislation as well as Health & Safety and Environmental legislation.
* CSCS Card (relevant type)
* Track Induction (desirable)
* Full clean UK driving license

About the Project
Thames Water AMP7 is a 4-year long framework (plus a possible 5 year extension into AMP8)
Murphy is a Primary Contractor in Lot 5 North London Infrastructure, value £200m
The framework will consist of the delivery of ECI, detailed design, build, commissioning and handover of water and wastewater infrastructure schemes
Include individual projects up to £30m (majority will be less than £15m with average value of £5 – 7m)
Design Partner in place
Featuring repairs and build of new assets including water treatment plants, pump stations, sewers, pipeline, reservoirs and drainage.
