Mt. Tam is looking to hire a Chief of Staff who will serve as a strategic implementer, communicator, and operator to ensure successful outcomes for the organization. This role will directly to the President and Founder of Mt. Tam and will work directly with the leadership team, employees, and contractors. The role will serve as a “right-hand” to the President to ensure a focus on key outcomes. The primary activities of the role include strategic planning, operations, human resources, and project management.
Location:
This is a remote position which requires working on East Coast time. You will be able to work from the designated location of your choice as long as you can attend East Coast meetings all day. Sometimes meetings can start early or run late depending on workflow and schedules. It is preferable to be in commuting range of Herndon, VA but is not required.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Planning and Alignment
● Strategic thought partner to President & CEO in designing and optimizing effective systems and productivity opportunities
● Facilitate strategic planning processes for the company by acting as a project manager and ensuring alignment with the CEO and leadership team
● Help determine key performance indicators as needed
● Support President & CEO in any company and project related activities
Operations and Infrastructure
● Propose the creation, facilitate the development of, and implement new systems and processes to streamline operation
● Research, perform benchmarking, analyze data, and make recommendations to fill gaps, solve problems, and improve company performance
● Anticipate and move with the needs of the organization and provide expertise to others as needed
● Proactively influence employees to see the value of smooth and streamlined operations and support team members in their growth as they align MTI values with operational excellence
● Be a resource to the organization in streamlining tasks
● Serves as back-up to the Operations Specialist
Project Management
● Execute time-sensitive projects with clients which include management of confidential information, coaching project resources, and facilitating client projects
● Oversee cross-functional, organization-wide projects or initiatives; bring together important stakeholders and help drive decisions
Key Qualifications
● At least 5-8 years of professional experience, preferably in executive office and/or project management functions
● Experience working closely with executives confidently and collaboratively
● Experience in technology, software, professional services is a plus
● Experience developing, executing, and overseeing a strategic vision
● Experience working cross-functionally in areas including professional learning, development, research, communication, etc.
● Experience implementing and managing the recruitment cycle and training new employees
● Skilled in building process documents for all functions and business areas
● Experience spearheading and managing projects with multiple contributors and workstreams from conception to completion on time and within budget
● Strong communication skills with keen attention to detail
● Strong interpersonal skills and customer service orientation to manage a broad range of relationships with care, to read situations well, and to treat others with respect and humility
● Superb judgment and integrity; maturity to handle sensitive information with care and confidentiality
● Ability to thrive in a fast-paced start-up environment with a dynamic culture with a can-do attitude
