Agricultural Procurement Manager

We have an opening as an Agricultural Procurement Manager on Day Shift.Job duties include Planning and procuring raw product (primarily cucumbers and peppers) directly or through subordinate.

Required Qualifications: Requires Bachelor’s Degree. Five to seven years’ experience in agricultural practices or related field. Analytical minded, with strong excel skills. Working knowledge of applicable laws, rules and regulations (federal, state, EEOC, ESC, FDA, EPA, OSHA, USDA, etc.), with background in USDA regulations. Intermediate computer skills and knowledge of standard business software plus specialty software required. Must have good written and verbal communication skills. Must speak, read and write in English.

Must demonstrate aptitude to manage people, set example by own conduct and work habits, make prompt and competent decisions, use authority wisely and maintain discipline, morale and teamwork at high standard.

Primary responsibilities include:

• Contracts raw product, focusing on quality, delivered cost, and timing of deliveries.
• Monitors daily intake and coordinates intake delivery with truckers and plant production. Takes action to expedite delivery of raw product when required by production.
• Serves as liaison between Company and suppliers, growers, truckers, USDA officials, University partners, etc.
• Analyzes, recommends and assists in developing and implementing intake methods, standards, records and s.
• Assures that sufficient product is planned, acceptable contracts are issued, and adequate agricultural products are received.
• Assists suppliers and growers as needed. Provides or secures technical information and assistance. Resolves problems and adjusts grievances with suppliers or growers. Assures that those contracting with the company follow established safety rules and other laws.
• Maintains appropriate computerized and paper records and files on pertinent information.
• Maintains areas of operation in a safe and sanitary manner. Makes effective use of and makes recommendations on physical assets. Determines that established safety rules, Company policy and good housekeeping are followed.

Other Duties:

• Manages two direct s; Crop Specialist and Inventory Control Supervisor.
• Travels extensively to oversee procurement in numerous states and several foreign countries.
• Coordinates with other departments to assure cooperation and timely completion of projects. Communicates and cooperates with other members of management to maintain productive and harmonious working relationships. Expected to hold regularly meetings with key internal department heads to communicate crop plan and crop expectations.
• Works closely with Outside Production, Outside Quality, Planning, Production, and other departments to coordinate crop intake decisions and plans.
• Drives own or company vehicle in performance of some job duties.
• May represent company at outside meetings and events.
• Performs some duties of subordinate supervisors in absence of same.
• Ensures proper selection, training, evaluation, and discipline of and communication with employees.
• Participates in training, employee meetings, committees, project teams, etc. as appropriate.
• Receives written and verbal instructions on the above job tasks and performs other duties as directed by Supervisor.

Pay: $70,000.00 – $80,000.00 per year
