English Language Arts Teacher

Job Summary

Mountain Christian School is seeking a full-time English Language Arts teacher for the 2023-

2024 school year. This teacher would be teaching 3-4 ELA classes a day to 6th, 7th, and 8th- grade students.

We are looking for a teacher both passionate and knowledgeable about the variety of subjects under the English Language Arts umbrella including writing, reading comprehension, grammar, spelling, and literary analysis. We would like to find a teacher with experience managing a classroom and teaching daily lesson plans.

The ELA teacher will need to deliver daily lessons that develop students English Language Arts skills and prepare them for the reading and writing demands of higher education. The teacher will be responsible for assigning homework, grading assignments and quizzes, documenting student progress, and communicating regularly and effectively with parents. The ELA teacher must have a thorough understanding of effective teaching practices and how to practically apply them in a classroom setting.

The math teacher must be a born-again Christian and attending church regularly. They must be able to wholeheartedly agree with the MCS mission, goals, and statement of faith.

Responsibilities

The ELA teacher will be responsible for cultivating a classroom environment that-

• Develops student skills including speaking, reading, and writing that are vitally important to effective communication and literate development.
• Develops a deep appreciation of quality literature of all types.
• Motivates the students to read widely & voraciously both for recreation and information.
• Develops standards for the thoughtful critique of written communication.
• Intentionally develops the unique student talents in the field of English Language Arts to prepare all students to move into higher education.

The ELA teacher must also be able and prepared to-

• Plan and present daily lessons to facilitate student understanding and application of reading comprehension, writing skills, and literary analysis.
• Adapt lessons and curriculum to accommodate students of different academic and learning needs.
• Prepare and distribute learning materials such as notes, assignments, supplemental practice, and assessments.

• Maintain a safe classroom that is conducive to student learning.
• Work collaboratively with the school administration to enforce rules of behavior, class participation, and conduct for students.
• Grade assignments and assessments in a timely manner
• Work with students individually if they need extra help and support in their math coursework.
• Document and student progress
• Attend meetings with parents and staff.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $33,000.00 – $45,000.00 per year

Schedule:

• Monday to Friday

• Show Low, AZ 85901: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)

Education:

• Bachelor’s (Preferred)

Experience:

• Teaching: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification:
