Assistant Accountant

A key role in the finance department reporting directly to one of 3 Finance Managers and working closely with the Financial Controller and Finance Director. The team is split into 3 pillars, Gross Margin, Overheads and Stock, each with a Finance Manager responsible for that area. This role is a support role for one of the financial pillars within the team. This is a key part of Motorpoint and ensuring accuracy of reporting in the management accounts will be critical to the success of the business. The role has the potential to provide some exposure to business partnering within the business.

• Responsible for month end routine, generating appropriate accruals and prepayments whilst adhering to strict deadlines
• Responsible for allocations across cost centres
• Understand postings, ensuring accurate accounting treatment, provide explanation of high spend in the month
• Responsible for balance sheet reconciliations for a selection of accounts
• Adhoc analysis to support business decisions
• Support in approving bank payments where necessary
• Liaise with external auditors at year end
• Liaise with internal auditors and work closely to improve controls and procedures
• Continuous improvement of all financial processes
