Job Summary

MSHS is seeking an energetic Application Engineer I that will be responsible for supporting the development and execution of control systems for power generation and propulsion control systems driven by prime movers (steam / gas / hydro turbines and diesel / gas engines).

A main focus of the engineering group is the retrofit and conversion of control systems to Woodward programmable controls, as well as auxilliary control systems be they PLC’s, HMI’s, SCADA, AVR’s, protective relays, power management controls. You will be expected to take a project from conception through design and testing to onsite commissioning and all the necessary documentation on the way.

MSHS is a service driven company, we must respond to our cusomers needs in a timly and efective manor as such there will be times when urgent travel, technical support is required.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Automation Control Systems and Instrumentation experience
• PLC / HMI / SCADA programming experience,
• Experience with Woodward control products
• Programming in C, C++, VB
• Provides Customer/Sales Support (TAG)

Requirements:

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Proficient with Microsoft Office business software, Word, Excel, Power Point, Visio
• Demonstrated self starting ability with good interpersonal skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills (in english a must, spanish would be a plus)
• Willing and able to travel, domestically and internationally
• Valid US Driving License

Education and Experience Requirements

• Possess a Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent
• Possess 0-2 years related experience
• Valid US Driving Liscense

Work Environment & Physical Demands

• This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopies, filing cabinets, printers and scanners.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
• Lifting up to 50 pounds.
• The ability to stand for long periods and be comfortable with kneeling, stooping and working in cramped and uncomfortable positions is required.
• Should be prepared to twist and turn the body often and must be open to working outdoors in various weather conditions.

Fit for Duty

All field and shop employees will require a pre-employment ENG1 Medical Examination (or equivalent). Shop service employees will be required to take the ENG1 Medical Evaluation but will have more flexibility for compliance based on MSHS accommodations of any given medical restrictions. The ENG1 Medical assessment is a standard examination can take anywhere between 30 and 45 minutes and will include the following:

• Measurement of height and weight
• A standard eye test and color blindness test
• A hearing test
• Ear and throat evaluations
• Inspection of teeth and gums
• Questions about medical history, including drinking and smoking habits
• A urine sample to test kidney function and blood sugar levels
• Reflex and hernia testing
• Listening to heart and lungs, testing blood pressure and heart rate

Candidates must pass a drug test before beginning work or receiving an offer of employment. Refusal to submit to testing will result in disqualification of further employment consideration
