Who we need
Our Ajax plant is adding a Tea Blender Helper to our team. You will be trained on our high-quality standards, and work as part of a team to weigh, measure, and operate our automated blending equipment to produce high-quality tea blends.
Shift Type: Rotating shifts on days (7 am – 3:30 pm), afternoons (3 pm – 11:30 pm) and nights (11 pm – 7:30 am). Must be able to work all three shifts and on weekends as required.
Pay Rate: $26.29/hour + shift premiums
What’s in it for you
Impact. You want to play a critical role in producing quality tea blends that get packaged and shipped out to our customers. You want to learn the business, understand the environment, and do your best work. This is a chance to contribute to processes that reduce non-value tasks and streamline the work of the Blending Team.
Career development. At Mother Parkers, our commitment to continuous improvement starts with our people. With ongoing training and learning opportunities, this is a place to build your career. Whether you are interested in moving into a more technical role in another production and packaging area, you will be supported in your goals.
A company that cares. This is a well-structured, organized, and collaborative environment. Joining us is a chance to be part of a company that prioritizes the health and safety of their teams, from the highest level of plant operations, preventative maintenance, and quality standards. It’s an opportunity to work with leading programming, technology, and operations at a Canadian-owned food & beverage company.
What you will do:
Learn. You will undertake training in primary and secondary roles and participate in annual performance reviews with your Supervisor. You will gain insights into the emphasis on quality and how to prevent mistakes that have a high-cost impact. You will build out a good understanding of our tea blending, processing and packaging from end-to-end.
Preparing the blend. You will be responsible for preparing the tea blend, which includes picking, weighing and measuring the required ingredients per the blend specifications. You will safely operate a lift truck to retrieve and return the pallet of ingredients to its racking location. You will then add the ingredients into the automated blending system to be processed; this will be completed by hand as well as by utilizing the vacuum-lift system. Upon completing each blend, you will follow the sanitization processes to prepare the system for the next blend.
Be responsive and meet demands. You will maintain an awareness of when and how the equipment needs to be adjusted to correct for out-of-spec conditions. You will attend to mechanical problems. You will prioritize and plan the blending order to ensure optimal efficiency.
Ensure quality. You will be part of our lean manufacturing environment and gain exposure to Six Sigma processes and approaches. You will develop an understanding of our Data Management System and ensure the accuracy and effectiveness of the supply chain from receiving to packaging.
What you bring to the role:
The certification and knowledge. Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent with manufacturing experience in highly-automated packaging equipment. You have a technical and a mechanical aptitude with troubleshooting, analytical, and mathematical skills. You have a lift truck operating license (Counter Balance, Reach and Walkie) and can competently operate one in a plant environment.
The experience and growth mindset. You may have direct experience in the food and beverage industry or another processing and packaging industry. You want to grow your knowledge through training to develop an in-depth understanding of our automated manufacturing process in a lean environment.
The accountability. You take ownership of your work and the quality of the products. You are detailed, accurate and capable of reading and understanding technical information. You work well under pressure, make quick decisions when needed, and handle multiple tasks at a physically and mentally demanding job.
The interpersonal skills. You can take verbal and written directions and communicate effectively. You can work independently with minimal supervision and prioritize your work in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.
The flexibility. You are comfortable working in a fast-paced, changing environment with high complexity. You can adapt to different shifts.
What we offer you:
We want you to feel appreciated. We provide a competitive Total Rewards package, including health benefits from Day 1, employer matched retirement savings plans, and optional Health or Wellness Spending Account.
We value continuous learning, skills development, and career growth and we offer a Tuition Assistance Program for learning outside our environment.
We want you to take your work home. While you don’t have to drink coffee to work here, we have an employee discount on our tea and coffee products.
If you want to join our mission of creating a better beverage experience as an integral and valued member of our team, and you have 70% or more of the qualifications we are looking for, we invite you to express your interest here. While we can’t guarantee an interview, we do promise to review your resume and see if this might be a good fit for both of us.
