Adult Basic Education (ABE) Instructor Duties

• Facilitate in person Job Readiness, Financial Literacy, Career & College Prep and Life Skills Development workshops for high school students in grades 9 – 12.
• Curriculum development and evaluation for all activities.
• Creating a classroom environment that is conducive to learning; inclusive of all different learning styles and addresses varied group dynamics. Activities must be fun and engaging and utilize media and technology.
• Assist with and conduct individual counseling sessions with participants as needed to support learning that is occurring in the classroom and assist with furthering student academic and career goals.
• Assist with participant career readiness assessments and creation of student career portfolios for 43 students including resumes and personal statements. Maintain files for each student that includes pre-post tests, work samples, resumes, and other documentation relating to student outcome achievement.
• Disseminate program information as appropriate; provide outreach and training to potential candidates about MMCC services
• Work with businesses, agencies and organizations to remove employment barriers and resolve issues related to community integration and independence for people with disabilities.
• Collect and submit attendance daily; maintain average daily attendance requirements
• Attend mandatory professional development training and meetings for purposes of learning best practices and current trends in workforce development and job readiness training
• Monitor and report on student progress. Communicate with case managers for support.
• Provide feedback to supervisor for improving the quality of service delivery
• Data entry

Other related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Associates degree in Education or related field
• At least two years experience instructing high school students and/or young adults.
• COVID-19 vaccination required.

This is a part time seasonal in-person position from October 2022 through May 2023.
