Morson Talent Looking for CAD Manager – Rolls Royce SMR at Derbyshire Full Time

Morson Talent are working in partnership with Rolls Royce SMR (small modular reactor) to recruit a CAD Manager to join their team in Derby.

The Post
Working for the Head of Engineering Integration, the CAD Manager is accountable for delivering all of the required CAD support to the programme and ensuring that the integrated CAD strategy and deployment is delivered into the new business, aligned with the digital strategy. A key focus on the programme is the integration and configuration of geometry, part and assembly definition as part of a completely integrated solution aligned with the digital twin strategy for the project. The project is also developing the application of Model Based Definition. The CAD Manager will be a central figure in developing the CAD strategy and all related policy, processes and guidance for the programme and will be required to build, develop and manage a team of CAD engineers / technicians to support the entirety of the power station programme.

As the manager of a growing medium sized team, as well as showing demonstrable leadership and management experience, the successful candidate will be able to show expertise in the following areas:
3D CAD, preferably Siemens NX
PLM configuration systems, preferably Teamcenter
Experience with the Autodesk suite, Autodesk Inventor and Revit is desirable
Configuration Management essentials
Experience of 4D tools and methods to support the understanding of construction, installation, and operations is highly desirable
Experience of complex Layout and Arrangement Development
Product Definitions, Modelling and Drawing Production
Working with and applying Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T
Experience of robust product structure control principles and application
Experience of Model Based Definition is desirable
Experience of P&ID production is desirable
Experience of Building Information Management / Modelling systems is desirable

Key Responsibilities
Key responsibilities of the CAD Manager are:
Own and deliver the integrated CAD strategy for the RR SMR business.
Define the requirements, develop the optimum integrated solution and deliver the CAD support infrastructure to the business.
Build, develop and manage a team of CAD engineers/technicians to support the entire SMR programme.
Working with the Configuration Manager, establish robust control over part and assembly geometry and definition data across the entire power station product, aligned with the PLM system.
Develop clear policies, processes and guidance to ensure a consistent approach is delivered across the programme.
Deliver timely CAD support across all aspects of part / component definition, installation modular assembly design, integration with Civils definition / geometry, system P&IDs and electrical wiring diagram production as needed to deliver the SMR programme.
Support / Lead on the application of Model Based Definition on the programme.
Maintain clear status monitors on CAD definition maturity that aligns with the project’s maturity monitors.
Integrate all aspects with the wider digital strategy for the programme.

Required Competencies

Expertise in 3D CAD, preferably Siemens NX
Experience of PLM configuration systems, preferably Teamcenter
Leadership and Management of small to medium sized teams
Experience of leading on large complex engineering integration programmes, managing cross platform data transfer and robust configuration of geometry and definition data

Qualifications & Experience
Relevant Technical degree level and extensive experience in related fields.
Member of Professional Body (CEng or equivalent status).
