The Glasgow Finance Division helps senior management and its individual business units manage the firm’s risk by implementing financial controls over our business activities. The division is crucial to safeguarding the firm’s franchise, reporting on current performance, and evaluating business opportunities.

The Disclosures team within Glasgow Finance division is part of the global External Reporting team, producing certain financial disclosures of the Firm in accordance with multiple accounting and regulatory frameworks. We have a demand for career minded individuals to join our team.

Team Profile

The team is responsible for preparing certain financial disclosures of the Firm. These disclosures are produced in accordance with multiple accounting frameworks (US GAAP and IFRS) as well as preparation of components of Financial Regulatory reporting to Regulators including the Federal Reserve and the Prudential Regulatory Authority. Key disclosure topics supported include Fair value measurement, Derivatives, Collateral, Off balance sheet commitments and guarantees and Structured Entities.

As a result of the ever changing regulatory and financial reporting environment the team is a key contributor across numerous projects arising as new requirements are issued by Regulators. The Disclosures team is also investing in ongoing continual enhancement of our disclosure production processes through digital tooling as well as our reporting control environment.

The team works closely with a number of stakeholders across the Firm including Global Product Controllers for the Institutional Securities Group business unit, Finance Technology as well as Legal Entity Control, Treasury Control, and the Accounting Policy Group.

The team currently consists of 7 members based in Glasgow.

Job description:

We are currently seeking a Director to join our External Reporting team. The role will report into a Vice President within the Glasgow team and will contribute to a number of complex disclosures within a variety of financial reporting. Outside of the production cycle, this role will input towards projects such as implementing new reporting requirements and implementing process improvements.

The successful candidate’s key responsibilities will include:

Reviewing Firm US GAAP and legal entity IFRS financial reporting alongside related Regulatory disclosures
Reviewing commentary and analysis to support disclosures
Monitoring progress against disclosure production timetables
Responding to review questions raised on disclosures
Communicating and escalating to line management
Providing SME expertise to the production team to trouble shoot data issues during quarterly production
Presenting disclosures and analytics to members of Finance Senior Management
Building an understanding of disclosure requirements and Morgan Stanley policies
Maintaining written procedures documents, ensuring key controls are in place

Represent the organization with external parties including external auditors

QUALIFICATIONS

Skills required:
