Key areas of responsibility for the Backup Administrator:
Ensure operational stability and supportability

Maintain data retention for historic data

Perform daily, weekly and periodic checks and procedures as required to ensure operational reliability.

Perform product lifecycle management.

Test, maintain and improve monitoring and checking.

Add and remove backups to new and existing servers according to defined process and policy.

Perform Operational Acceptance Tests for servers for backups.

Capacity planning of backup environments ensuring appropriate investment is made at the appropriate time.

Required Experience:
The role requires an in-depth knowledge of Backup & Recovery architectures and technology. In particular, an in depth knowledge of Veeam Backup and replication and IBM Spectrum Protect (Formerly known as TSM).

Netbackup knowledge.

Troubleshoot stability and performance problems for Backups.

Definition and documentation of best practice process and design.

Install and configure Backup & Recovery hardware and software.

Identify requirements and develop/deploy solutions for Backup environments.

Knowledge of working for a company supporting a large number of TSM or Veeam backups.

Strong knowledge of at least one operating system.
