About Us
Barking & Dagenham College is a dynamic and highly successful further education college situated in East London, with sites in Barking town centre and at Rush Green. We have 11,700 students, c500 established staff and a turnover of 35m.
Our Rush Green campus is situated close to 28.5 acres of East London park-land and is accessible from Dagenham via the District Line or Romford via the Elizabeth Line and a short bus ride. On-site parking is also available for staff.

A new People Strategy
We are developing a longer term people strategy in support of college goals and transformation. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in strategic implementation as well as delivery of day to day people services.
Reporting into our new Chief People and Transformation Officer you will be responsible for overseeing and developing the delivery of a customer centric and responsive People Services and HR team establishing an effective Business Partnering approach as key element of our people strategy going forward. Your key accountabilities will include:-
Providing leadership and guidance to Heads of Department and Curriculum Managers on HR matters, raising awareness on people policies and best practice
Reviewing and improving HR policies and processes
Providing advice and guidance on organisational change
Designing training on people management issues, recruitment and new policies
Providing people insight and data and developing regular reporting and commentary for the leadership team.
Providing support and guidance to our excellent team of HR specialists
Working closely with the payroll team to ensure all aspects of payroll administration are completed accurately
Partnering with people managers and supporting our teams to deliver exceptional learner experiences.
Developing practices and policies re-enforcing our values, culture and inclusive working.
About You
You will be a senior HR Generalist with a track record of working in a fast paced complex environment ideally within the education sector. Experience of developing HR policies and processes and advising senior leaders on HR issues including recruitment, remuneration and employee relations is essential. You also need to have experience of interpreting and reporting HR metrics and of managing a small team of HR specialists. You will have excellent working knowledge across a wide spectrum of employment law, volume resourcing, policy development, employee relations case management and people systems. Ideally you will be MCIPD qualified and be operating as a senior HR practitioner.
