What are we looking for?

We are looking for a passionate and experienced HR professional to work as the Head of People and Talent (P&T), working alongside the Head of Performance and Development and in support of the People Director to help continue the growth and success of the firm.

Responsibilities will be varied and cover all core HR but a specialism in employment law, policies, and processes would be beneficial as we refresh and enhance this area over the next few months.

Role Responsibilities:

• Overall accountability for all activities within each functional area of HR Operations, including recruitment, resourcing, HR advisory, policies, systems, and procedures.
• Working closely with the People Director to ensure successful delivery and development of the employee value proposition.
• Ownership of the KPIs and additional metrics to measure success and support decision making.
• Oversee and provide expert advice for all people and performance issues with specific focus on supporting Directors and Partners, offering support where required across areas such as mediation, employment law, policies and procedures, and career development.
• Driving continuous improvement through ownership of policy and process development in collaboration with the P&T Manager (HR Generalist).
• Responsible for budget setting across HR Operations, in collaboration with Head of Learning and Development and the People Director with an authorisation to commit the company to specified levels of expenditure.
• Building a high-performing HR operations team through coaching and performance management including regular feedback, career development, on-the-job learning, and help accessing appropriate development training.
• Partner with the Head of Learning and Development to collaborate on all people matters within both P&T and the across the wider business.
• Lead on strategic projects in collaboration with the People Director and wider P&T team, helping to shape and implement both HR strategy and day to day operations.
• Responsible for succession planning across HR Operations and the wider business, ensuring that future gaps are highlighted, and recruitment is timely.

To be successful in this role, you will need to be:

• A credible individual with experience and qualifications to evidence this e.g., CIPD qualified (at least level 5)
• A self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is able to handle multiple inputs across different areas of the business
• Experienced in coaching and mentoring (team and wider business)
• Experienced in designing and writing HR policies and embedding them into the business
• A human-centred leader who is excited to lead a small team, through direction, coaching and mentoring, whilst ensuring that their development needs are also provided for
• Confident in taking the initiative and communicating with senior stakeholders across all people and talent issues that may arise, including employment law
• Open to continued learning, including the giving and receiving of feedback from all grades, in order to improve performance and processes

Package and Location

• A total cash package of up to £93,000, comprising of a base salary of £80,000 and a combination of personal and company bonuses which enables all our people to share in the success of the business. Bonuses are reliably paid every six months
• 25 days annual leave increasing by one day for every full year of service to a maximum of 30 days
• A quarterly ‘Escape’ for 24 hours, for social, team building and corporate social responsibility activities, with a longer 4-day event held annually

Our offices are based near Liverpool Street Station and although we operate in a hybrid working environment, the successful candidate would be expected to be in the office 2-3 days a week, and on occasion more often.
