AVAILABLE: Full-time school year position available August 29, 2022; work schedule based on school year;
SALARY & BENEFITS: Salary to be determined by qualifications and experience and as specified in the MCIEA Master Agreement salary schedule. Benefits as specified in the MCIEA Master Agreement

Job Summary:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Coach teams about evidence-based practices and strategies appropriate to support students with disabilities.
Conduct information and training sessions for teachers, parents, community members, general education aides and special education aides, as appropriate.
Coordinates and facilitates regular team meetings to coach teams through data collection, data analysis and student support plan development using a problem solving process.
Conduct sensitivity and awareness sessions for general education teachers and students as appropriate.
Serve as the case manager for students who are in fully inclusive settings.
Provide ongoing support to general education teachers (including curriculum adaptations, behavior management, meeting IEP objectives, etc.)
Maintain regular communication and consultation with general and special educators, paraprofessionals, support staff and parents about student progress.
Serve as a member of intervention teams providing educational and therapeutic services for special education students.
Coordinate IEPT meetings.
Provide instructional and behavioral support to students in parochial classrooms.
Aggregate and interpret testing data for students with disabilities.
Provide in-service training through orientation programs, production and demonstration workshops, integrating curriculum and technology into same.
Implement multi-tiered systems of support, Universal Design for Learning and co-teaching models.
Provide supplemental k-12 student programs required for grant purposes and/or student intervention.
May apply Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) techniques with students .
Must have valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Maintain regular, predictable in-person attendance.
Adhere to MCISD Guidelines and Policies.
Reliable transportation
Follow work rules.
Assume other duties as assigned by the Program Supervisor/Regional Director.
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:
Master’s degree in Special Education, required
CERTIFICATION:
Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with CI, LD, EI or AI endorsement, required
Ability to meet state requirements for approval as a teacher consultant for Approval in Autism Spectrum Disorder, Cognitively Impaired, Learning Disabled or Emotionally Impaired by the Education Division of Special Education, required.
EXPERIENCE:
Three (3) years satisfactory classroom teaching experience in a program for students with cognitive, autistic or emotional impairment,required.
SKILLS/OTHER:
Ability to apply current research and theory to instruction.
Ability to assist staff with the implementation of their job duties
Ability to consult administration regarding the individualized needs of cognitive and/or autisitc/emotionally impaired students
Demonstrated physical stamina necessary for assisting with lifting, moving and restraining students up to 26 years of age.
Ability to work with individuals and groups.
Ability to work in team environment.
Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
Certified in crisis prevention; trainer status preferred
Demonstrated understanding of, and initiative to work with students, staff and parents.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret information
Ability to write reports, effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of teachers, parents and building administrators
TECHNICAL SKILLS:
Ability to use a personal computer (PC) in a networked environment to utilize the Internet and other electronic communications mechanisms such as e-mail conferencing or bulletin boards
Knowledge of productivity applications such as Microsoft Office (word processing, spreadsheets, database and presentation software), required.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
