The role is responsible for delivering business critical IT solutions and services for Point of Sale (POS-VEW, VAST) systems for retail, commercial, wholesale businesses and Electronic Repair Manuals and Catalogs. Also responsible for recommending, establishing, implementing, and controlling best practices for POS Applications Delivery. The position works closely with the business, IT and other departments, to understand, define, prioritize and deliver against current and future business needs.

Essential Functions

• With IT Applications Director, support the development and implementation of the technical roadmap for Point of Sale Systems current and future organizational needs
• Partner with Retail, Commercial and Wholesale Operations on roadmap and prioritization of technical improvements and coordination across multiple vendors
• Direct interface between users and software developers, facilitating development of prioritized list of requests, incorporating costs and benefits, new technology, changes in the business, etc
• Establish and rollout Software Development Lifecycle practice and standards and ensure delivery of quality products and services
• Support Software Development Lifecycle to include user needs analysis, development of functional/technical specifications, development, testing, troubleshooting and deployment
• Implement and oversee configuration and release management standards & tools
• Manage programming projects by reviewing progress of work, resolving problems, and ensuring quality and quantity of work standards are met by adjusting priorities and staff assignments, as needed
• Provide technical support & documentation for POS Service Desk and other departments as needed
• Ensure proactive monitoring and management of the applications environment
• Drive vendor partnerships to ensure vendors deliver to established project goals, quality, scope, and timeline
• Understand vendor upgrade road maps and how changes may impact the business
• Oversee Electronic Repair Manuals and Catalogs including:
• Ensure data is accurate and current, and related systems are working properly
• Provide for the enhancement to the catalogs as required by Operations and Merchandising departments
• Ensures catalog updates are published according to schedule
• Support all audit & compliance activities including SOX, PCIS and general internal control compliance
• Analyze POS security threats and designs and implements responses to them
• Support M&A activities from due diligence to implementation and integration including managing and coordinating new computer POS setup and customer history transfer

Qualifications

The IT POS Senior Manager is responsible for hiring, developing, motivating & evaluating technical team members. Sets goals and metrics for the group and holds the team accountable, providing feedback and guidance as needed. Ensures team has appropriate direction, leadership and balance between short-term impact and long-term vision. Direct supervision for the POS Dev Team and ECatalog team.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and a minimum of five years’ experience in software development preferred
• Five years supervisory experience required
• Experience with Retail POS Systems
• Automotive experience using MAM/VAST/VEW or comparable systems a plus
• Prior software testing experience a plus
• Experience managing development and implementation projects with external technology teams, internal IT teams, and business stake holders
• Experience with evaluating, implementing, and managing both cloud and on-premise solutions and platforms
• Experience managing external vendor partnerships
• Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
• Experience holding employees accountable to goals, providing coaching, performance feedback, corrective action, and discipline to employees

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to use data and metrics to inform recommendations and drive actions
• In-depth knowledge of Agile process and principle, SDLC methodologies, business process mapping
• Knowledge of tools like JIRA a plus
• Self-starter, creative, enthusiastic, innovative, and collaborative outlook
• Adapts and thrives in a demanding, fast-paced environment
• Customer-service oriented with a problem-solving attitude
• Ability to efficiently manage multiple projects and deadlines

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, scanners and fax machines. Position requires prolonged periods of sitting/standing at a desk and working on a computer. Ability to work standard business hours with the flexibility to work evenings, weekends and holidays as needed. Occasional travel required.
