Adhoc project-based freelance work for a senior digital marketing strategist. Do you love distilling information, applying industry best-practice, and conveying complex ideas in visual presentations for clients?

I’m looking for a strategic marketer to work behind the scenes on some overflow work in my consulting business, creating marketing/social media plans and powerpoint presentations based off supplied briefs and discovery material. You must be fast, open to feedback, and solution-focused.

Overview:

• Work on an hourly rate (for a set amount of hours per project, with agreed deliverables)
• Fully remote and no client-facing work involved
• You can work after-hours in addition to your own business or a full-time role (as long as there is no conflict of interest with the project work and your current client roster)

Responsibilities:

• Review discovery material and client source information & notes/files
• Curate complex ideas into well-considered strategic recommendations
• Create frameworks for strategy and go-to-market execution
• Develop visual powerpoint presentations for client deliverables/strategy
• Develop associated action/execution plans or tactical recommendations if required

Qualifications:

• You must have demonstrated experience in developing marketing plans and social media strategy for complex organisations and senior stakeholder landscapes
• Mastery of powerpoint and ideally Google Docs + Canva
• Agency experience preferred
• Not-for-profit experience preferred
• Good sense of humour and positive attitude are a must!

Important Note: tactical/how-to information for social media platforms is less important than the ability to convey over-arching strategy and a logical hierarchy of ideas. There are lots of young guns in the industry with awesome ideas for what’s trending now, nuances on social platforms, the minutiae of the algorithms etc… this is not that. I’m looking for someone with a high-level perspective who has experience in developing materially that is typically presented to executive leadership teams or clients that need a clear, visual plan that aligns with organisational objectives.

Selection Criteria:

• Minimum 8-10 years experience developing & presenting marketing strategy
• Detail-orientated and deadline-orientated – experience producing presentations in limited time constraints
• You will be asked to share some examples of powerpoint-style documentation that you have developed previously. (If there are any concerns around IP protection or sensitive information I can sign an NDA or you can send some snapshots, showcase via a zoom session, or screen-record some of the highlights rather than sending the full document)
• You MUST be an Australian resident and have an ABN

This is a great opportunity that would suit someone in a full-time role (with evening or weekend capacity) or in the early stages of your own freelance business… if you have a wealth of previous IP, presentations, and templates to draw from and love developing strategies, you can make some additional income while playing in your genius zone (without any client contact or marketing/sales involved!)

To manage expectations, fees are typically $1,500-$3,000 per project. Total hours and deliverables for the project fee vary and are negotiable based on the full brief, but note that turnaround times are usually only 1-3 weeks – so you’ll need to be efficient, experienced, and have some capacity for this opportunity to be a good match. Also note that these are not bloated corporate consulting contracts (it’s typically for SMEs or non-profits) and we only have a set amount of hours allocated to each project, so SPEED is key.

Contract Notes:

• As per most outsourcing sites & contracts, ownership of material created will be assigned to my business as part of the contract – therefore, while you will leverage your background/experience, you’d create bespoke frameworks or presentations for this project.
• You will need to supply the “working files” (eg. editable powerpoint file, google slides etc) at various stages throughout the project. Note that in some cases there will be other team members collaborating on the same document or you make only be involved in working on a portion of the total strategy and/or final formatting and updates may be completed after your involvement.
• All work is on a project-by-project basis, with no offer or guarantee or offer of repeat work. (Repeat work is invitation-only, typically based on your prior performance on previous projects)
