About Monash Centre for Health Research and Implementation (MCHRI), School of Public Health, Monash University and Monash Health

MCHRI was established in 2005 and has grown from 3 to 180 staff and students. This is a partnership centre across Monash University and Monash Health and provides an implementation laboratory for research and translation embedded and integrated into healthcare. MCHRI works with broader reach across Monash Partners Academic Health Science Centre, nationally and internationally in our research and translation endeavours. Our vision is to create, synthesise, implement and translate clinical, health care and public health knowledge, underpinned by cross sector end user engagement, to deliver health impact. About the Role

The Software Developer will be an integral member of the Monash Centre for Health Research & Implementation research team, with primary responsibilities including:

• Develop, improve and maintain digital health applications
• Analyse requirements, develop and test new features for existing or new applications
• Resolve issues in existing applications
• Create accessible, stable and scalable applications and infrastructure with elegant code to translate health research into digital solutions
• Comply with Monash Health and Monash University policy, procedure and protocols relevant to the development of applications

About You:

• Ability to work effectively within a team environment or independently
• Demonstrated initiative, innovation and ability to contribute to the development of new systems & processes
• Sound analytical and problem-solving skills
• Deliver high quality, value-focused software solutions as part of a cross-functional team
• Experience with front-end and back-end development of (digital health) web applications

What you need:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering (or related field), or relevant industry experience.
• 2+ years’ experience in software development – be able to write highly reliable, robust, and elegant code
• Experience developing web applications; sound experience in front-end and back-end development preferably in an Agile/Scrum environment
• Demonstrated technical analysis skills and technical competency and application backend architecture
• Familiarity with the key technologies mentioned below would be a plus but we are interested in software development experience, the ability to solve problems and pick up new technologies quickly:
  • Expertise in technologies including React, Java, Typescript, Web APIs
  • Understanding of information security standards, information privacy, software security, data classification, data integrity, and robust development practices
  • Cloud computing experience (AWS Cloud), understanding of database concepts, Dynamo DB
