Job Description

Key Responsibilities :

Record Management :

• Collect, organize, and maintain patient medical records in both electronic and paper formats.
• Ensure the accuracy and completeness of all medical records by reviewing and updating information regularly.

Data Entry :

• Accurately enter patient information into the electronic health records (EHR) system.
• Verify and update patient demographics, insurance information, and other relevant details.

Confidentiality :

• Adhere to strict confidentiality protocols to protect sensitive patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
• Control access to medical records and maintain a secure and confidential environment.

Release of Information :

Process requests for the release of medical records, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements for billing.

Communication :

Communicate effectively with healthcare professionals, administrative staff, and patients to obtain necessary information and resolve any issues related to medical records and billing

Training and Compliance :

• Stay informed about updates and changes in healthcare regulations related to medical recordkeeping and medical billing.
• Train and educate staff on proper procedures for maintaining and accessing medical records.

Technology Utilization :

Proficiently use electronic health record (EHR) software and other relevant technologies to manage medical records efficiently.

Qualifications :

• High school diploma or equivalent; associates degree in Health Information Management or related field preferred.
• Proven experience in medical records management or a similar role in the healthcare industry.
• Familiarity with computers, tech-savvy and able to adapt to new systems.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and other relevant healthcare compliance standards.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
