COMMUNICATION LAB AND OPEN EDUCATION ADMINISTRATOR, Aeronautics and Astronautics (AeroAstro), to participate in AeroAstro’s newly launched Digital Education Strategy aimed at enhancing and opening up aerospace engineering education and Communications Lab, a peer-coaching organization that helps students and postdocs learn to write, speak, and design visuals more effectively. Will collaborate on hiring, training, and supervising communication fellows who will provide peer coaching and communication support while being cultivated as leaders and communicators themselves; mentor the fellows; provide instruction in communication, educational design, and project management; assist with goal setting and reflection; offer feedback on the design and execution of communication workshops, articles, and other resources/initiatives; raise awareness of the Communication Lab’s services; join the department’s digital education team, developing and implementing strategy and participating in the design and implementation of new online and hybrid programs; and perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering or related discipline; four years’ experience in a STEM field, communications, and/or education; experience with educational design of resources like workshops and rubrics; excellent interpersonal, project management, and technical and academic communication (oral, written, and visual design) skills; team-orientation; and keen attention to detail. Must be able to problem solve strategically and analyze data to inform decision-making; manage multiple long-term deadlines simultaneously; create connections between people and organizations to optimize student support and departmental goals; receive and give constructive feedback; and interact effectively with a diverse group of faculty/students/staff. PREFERRED: advanced degree in aerospace engineering or related discipline; experience in educational innovation and/or online learning; ability to produce technical content (e.g., published scientific manuscripts); supervisory experience with student workers; and MIT experience.
