This member of the Engineering and Operations Department providing hands-on engineering design, development, and technical support for Missouri Electric Commission (MEC)-owned and pool members generation units. This includes coal-fired steam turbines, gas- and oil-fired combustion turbines, reciprocating engines, landfill gas, solar, and wind generation. This role requires application of Engineering standards and procedures. Other responsibilities include support of company’s compliance strategy, including Safety, Environmental, and NERC Reliability Standard compliance. Position will routinely interface with members, utility director, city administrators, consultants, utility partners, and staff in other MPUA departments.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
1. Bachelor’s degree in ABET accredited electrical engineering or mechanical engineering.
2. Minimum 3 years’ experience with electric generation projects and electric utility systems.
3. Registration as a professional engineer in the state of Missouri a plus.
4. Basic computer skills to include the ability to develop new applications in spreadsheets and data base software as well as the ability to use other position specific software.
5. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively on routine matters with MPUA staff and members.
6. Strong written communication skills, capable of clearly expressing complex or detailed financial concepts to a variety of audiences in s, letters, memorandum, news releases, announcements, etc.
7. Advanced analytical and mathematical skills, including calculations of complex mathematics related to the analysis of AC power systems. In-depth knowledge of engineering tools and software.
8. Knowledge of codes and standards in multiple engineering disciplines.
9. Able to read schematic and wiring diagram drawings.
10. Knowledge of project evaluation, scheduling, budgeting, and contract execution for complex projects.
11. Ability to work independently, set priorities, and manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously.
12. Position will be expected to travel to various job sites and member cities. These would typically be day trips in nature. Occasional overnight travel may occur.
13. Strong organizational and detail-oriented skills.
