Mission Peak Hiring for Wireless Protocol Test Engineer – WiFi and Bluetooth at San Carlos, CA Full Time

The Wireless Protocol Test Engineer would have expertise in either WiFi (802.11x) or Bluetooth signalling. This engineer would test IOT devices, WiFi AP’s, consumer devices, etc, and test for performance. This includes devising various test scenarios in the lab such as RvR (rate vs range), fading channels, congested channels, propagation delay, etc. Test boxes, sniffers, traffic generators, interference generators, attenuators, and other lab instruments would be used. Test performance would be analyzed by use of packet inspection, benchmarking, and regression testing. Much of this job relies on Python test scripts that must be written to automate tests.

Required Skills

• Expertise in either WiFi (802.11x) or Bluetooth signalling protocols
• Expertise with common sniffers like Wireshark or Frontline
• Excellent understanding of TCP/IP protocol, and WiFi MAC layer design (WiFi track)
• Excellent understanding of Bluetooth SIG protocols for legacy and LE technologies (BT track)
• Experience analyzing MAC packet, and IP packet flows for WiFi
• Experience analyzing various Bluetooth profiles such as A2DP, GAP, HDP, etc
• Expertise with common RF parametric test methodology in conducted and radiated mode
• Experience taking device logs, loading firmware/software, and reading and understanding standards documents
• Some level of experience writing Python or shell scripts

Work is expected to be done on-site in an office/lab environment.
