Our Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a Group Financial Controller, Group Finance to join our Sydney team. The Group Manager, Group Finance is a senior role partnering with the Group Advisory & Solutions (GAS) Leadership and Divisional Finance to maintain and enhance Mirvac’s external financial reporting strategy and control environment. The role reports to the Group General Manager (“GGM”), Strategy & Group Finance. The role will lead the critical financial reporting processes across the organisation including the consolidation of the monthly financial results and the preparation of the interim and annual financial statements for the Group and Property Trust and ensure a robust control environment.

Key responsibilities include:
People Leadership – Effectively lead, motivate and coach a high performing team to exceed business objectives and manage personal and professional development across both onshore and offshore teams

Financial Reporting – Responsible for the consolidation of the financial actual results for the Group. This also includes adherence to the regulatory reporting environment, ensuring the integrity of financial information and reporting in a timely manner.

External Reporting – Responsible for the overall external reporting strategy for the Group including the preparation of the Integrated Annual Report for MGR. The role also oversees and supports the preparation of statutory accounts for the Mirvac Property Trust, subsidiaries, joint ventures and funds.

Governance & project management – Responsible for the planning and project management of the interim and annual reporting processes for the Group. This includes planning, coordination, undertaking technical accounting reviews, audit engagement, preparing Board and Audit Committee papers and presentations.

External Auditors – Play a lead role in engaging with and managing the external audit function, ensuring a transparent, positive and value-add relationship is fostered.

Technical Accounting Services – Interpret and assess the impact of changes to accounting and industry standards and their application across the Group’s operating segments. This also includes educating and providing guidance on accounting and reporting matters to the broader finance community across the Group and ensuring the implementation of best accounting practice.

Business Partnering – Partner with the business unit finance teams to provide advice on financial and accounting issues in relation to transactions and projects including new business opportunities, acquisitions, disposals andinvestments to ensure the optimal outcome for the Group.

Financial Control – Develop and maintain a strong control environment, with policies and procedures documented

and kept upto date. This also includes maintaining a robust monthend and yearend close process with

appropriate work papers, reconciliations and reviews in place.

Policies – Perform regular reviews of finance related policies and where required, develop new polices to support

new and/or changed business structures and/or operating models

Risk Management – Partner with the Group Risk function to help develop and maintain a strong risk-based culture

and environment, with risk profiles, risk assessments and control self-assessments operating effectively.

Continuous Improvement – Identify and drive implementation of improvement opportunities through process

redesign, system review and best practice adoption to enhance the Group control environment and reporting

processes in a collaborative manner.

Systems – Partner with the Mirvac Digital Team to ensure the Yardi accounting platform is operating effectively

and optimized for Mirvac’s diversified and integrated business model. This includes identifying and implementing

opportunities to enhance system functionality and capability whilst maintaining financial data integrity for the

Group at all times.

Your point of difference

Qualified CPA/CA or CFA equivalent

Minimum 15 years accounting experience within property/accounting

Strong technical accounting skills

Clear capability to lead, motivate, manage and mentor finance team members including the capability to build a high performing, accountable and inclusive team

Demonstrated experience in Property – new business structuring, accounting for business combinations delivery of projects and JV/Third party

High level communication (written and verbal) and stakeholder management skills

Well-developed analytical and problem solving skills

Excellent attention to detail

Strong financial background and previous experience in similar role.

Experience in managing teams, system implementation and compliance
