What can I expect to do in this role?

In this role, you will:

• provide quantitative, economic, financial, and strategic advice related to infrastructure policy
• support major ongoing, cross-government projects including:

Ontario Builds – a database and public map of provincial infrastructure projects, and,

Provincial Asset Inventory – a government-wide database of public assets that supports long-term planning

• use capacity-enhancing tools, data models, and processes to support infrastructure policy and a culture of evidence-based decision making
• support analytical advice to capital ministries on enhancing their long-term infrastructure planning, needs forecasting, business case development and performance measures

How do I qualify?

Economic Analysis and Research:

• You have strong economic research skills to acquire and synthesize financial and infrastructure data.
• You can use economic, statistical or geospatial methods to create technical reports and develop recommendations for management.
• You have analytical skills involving a range of qualitative and quantitative factors, including conducting analysis of trends, work of other jurisdictions, sector developments and assessing policy impacts.
• You can obtain knowledge of infrastructure planning and budget processes, for example, conducting infrastructure needs assessments through modelling and forecasting.

Technical Knowledge and Skills:

• You have knowledge of public finance, economics, geospatial analysis, statistics, business administration or a related discipline to manage quantitative, economic, financial, and strategic advice related to infrastructure policy.
• You have computer-based quantitative skills such as data management and statistical software (for example, GIS or visualization applications) to undertake and interpret analysis, and prepare various communications materials.

Communication Skills

• You can build and maintain positive and trusting working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
• You have strong oral and written communication skills to prepare various and complex written materials.

Organizational Skills:

• You are able to meet deadlines when producing deliverables and have the ability to manage long-term initiatives involving a network of stakeholders
