Air Command’s Finance Function is based at RAF High Wycombe, headquarters for the Royal Air Force. This is a recruitment campaign for an Executive Officer (EO) role within the Financial Accounting Team. This is an excellent opportunity to build upon financial, communicating and influencing and leadership skills whilst working as part of a team. We are looking for a proactive individual to produce timely and robust financial information and inform recommendations to senior management. Job holders will be required to liaise with several stakeholders including wider finance colleagues, RAF Stations and Senior managers, therefore proven communication skills are essential.
This position is advertised at 37 hours per week
This is a civilian role within a military environment; you will develop a great understanding of the RAF and the Ministry of Defence and, with excellent training and development available, the wider Civil Service could be open to you for your future career.
Professional Finance qualifications are not essential. There will be opportunities to study towards a professional finance qualification such as AAT, ACCA or CIMA for the right candidate.
This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.
The Finance Operations team is responsible for the foundation activities that underpin the Function’s support to, and engagement with, the business. It owns all report production, initial analysis and guards one version of the truth upon which insightful business decisions can be made.
Within Finance Operations, we have a specialist Financial Accounting Team responsible for producing monthly forecasting services to Air Command. This includes creating accruals and prepayments in order to support the financial position of the wider group each month. The role is a focal point for the Finance Business Partners (FBP’s) within Air Command and forming relationships with key stakeholders. You will closely liaise with a number of RAF stations to ensure correct financial information is submitted in a timely manner to support the monthly forecasts. The team comprises 2 x SEO, 2 x HEO and 2 x EO.
Your activities will fall into these main areas:
Longer-term workplace management policies following the relaxation of Covid-19 restrictions are still in development, but it is likely that the post holder will be expected to work 40%-60% in office at RAF High Wycombe. Where feasible, team members are permitted some flexibility for working from home, but without the right to do so. The post may require occasional travel to meetings and potentially overtime at busy times in the monthly/annual cycle, for which flexi time is available.
The post is open for all working patterns but please note that part time or job share may potentially only be considered if full time cover can be achieved.
