Process Engineer (contract)

Location: Warrington

Rate: £flexible per hour (Ltd subject to a IR35 determination) 

Duration: 12 months minimum/ 2 years

Summary

Our client a very large blue chip Engineering Design Consultancy/ EPC construction and maintenance contractor require a Lead Civil/ Structural Engineer to be based out of their Birchwood, Warrington office.

Job description

• You will report to the Project Lead Process Engineer and work together with your team of engineers and designers
• The project will be a Concept Confirmation and FEED
• The project will be a CO2 Capture, Transport and Storage project in the Chemicals sector.
• You will be responsible for completing process design activities within the budget and planning provided by the Project Lead Process Engineer, including but not limited to:
  • Process modelling of the entire process within the company’s project scope
    • Evaluation of a CO2 blower and compression envelope.
    • A Multi Criteria Analysis to select a suitable CO2 drying method
    • Process modelling of CO2 capture and transfer to compression area, CO2 compression and CO2 drying.
    • Setting up Mass and Heat Balances of CO2 capture and transfer to compression area, CO2 compression and CO2 drying.
  • Development of:
    • PFD
    • P&IDs
    • Relief and venting philosophy
    • Process description and control philosophy
    • Process basis of design
    • Process data sheets
  • Participation in HAZOP
  • Providing process data for line list, equipment list, instrument schedule, etc.
• You are responsible for the quality of your design output
• You will participate in internal and external design reviews

Qualifications

• More than 5 years of experience as a Process Engineer, on multi-discipline projects, in an Engineering / EPC(m) company
• Deep knowledge of Process engineering and design, but you also have a sound knowledge of the other disciplines (Automation, Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Piping and EC&I). You will have executed process design in a capital project environment, understanding what needs to be delivered to assure a compliant design
• Experience of the latest tools for process design such as process simulation and other software. In particular using Aspen Tech software to model process systems. This should include good working knowledge of thermodynamic modelling and physical property generation. Preferably you will have experience modelling gas systems such as carbon dioxide or similar.
• Experience of process safety – PHA, LOPA, DSEAR and pressure relief
• Experience with compressor design would be a big advantage
• You should have experience in a mainstream process industry such as oil & gas, chemicals, conventional energy.
• MEng / MSc / BSc / BEng in Process / Chemical Engineering
• Chartered or Incorporated Engineer (Preferred)
• Sound understanding of the current British and European Standards
