Small Modular Reactors (SMR) benefit from smarter, simpler and more innovative design and manufacturing processes. Our client is contributing their engineering and advanced manufacturing skills and capabilities as part of a consortium to develop a Gen III+ compact nuclear power station.
Our client has significant experience in the design and build of the UK’s current fleet of Generation III advanced gas-cooled reactors (AGR) and pressurised water reactors (PWR). SMRs will bolster efforts to tackle climate change.
These are exciting opportunities which will give you the opportunity to work with engineers from several other large engineering companies across a range of disciplines including EC&I, Process, Civil and Safety.
Qualifications
You will be degree qualified, or have comparable knowledge and experience, heading towards Chartership (which we can support), and have a few years’ experience in Electrical or C&I design in an industrial environment. Senior or Principal level engineers will be expected to have proven experience of leading technical teams in the successful delivery of EC&I engineering activities and demonstrable experience in developing EC&I designs, preferably in highly regulated industries.
You will need experience of working through the project lifecycle, taking a high-level problem statement and developing design requirements and interfaces, moving onto concept, prelim and detail design. Experience in developing and assessing options for engineering solutions, managing input from a range of stakeholders would be beneficial.
You should be able to demonstrate knowledge of the practical aspects of implementing engineering designs and understand the use of standards and compliance with regulatory requirements in an engineering environment.
You will be involved in writing high quality technical reports so excellent communication and computer skills are a must. You will prioritise your workload well, simplify complex problems and build and maintain valuable relationships.
This role will predominantly be office based but a willingness to travel to sites of other organisations and clients in the UK is expected.
You will be required to undergo Security Clearance.
