Midwest Environmental Services, Inc. is seeking qualified candidates for an Accounting Specialist. This position will be based at our office in Hamilton, Ohio.

Purpose of Position:

The Accounting Specialist is responsible for assisting the Accounting Manager with the daily operations within the Accounting department with an emphasis on providing accurate and timely processing of accounts payables, accounts receivables payments, customer invoice billings, general ledger entries, and reconciliations to include month-end accounting closes. In addition, works with the Accounting Manager to complete requests from internal and external departments, assists in running reports, analyzing data, preparing and distributing the monthly metrics. The Accounting Specialist ensures compliance with all company policies, state/local/federal regulations and internal audit requirements as it pertains to accounting and finance for the company.

Major Duties/Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

• Preparation of customer invoices based on services provided and information provided by company locations.
• Processing customer payments to the appropriate customer record and invoices.
• Prepares journal entries and reviews data transactions sheets, reconciles accounts and checks for accuracy.
• Analyzes and audits various transactions and accounts at the request of the Accounting Manager.
• Ensures transactions are processed in the correct accounting period.
• Maintains vendor files and communicates with vendors.
• Ensures timely verification and payment of invoices and expense vouchers.
• Reviews and resolves outstanding accounts payable trial balance and outstanding checks.
• Reviews expense submissions for compliance to company policy.
• Reconciles company credit card statements and resolves any issues.
• May update or recommend improvement to internal processes.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, or similar field
• 3-5 years of related work experience in Corporate Accounting.
• Exhibit proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, Access and preferably Sage (MAS90).
• Strong analytical, problem-solving skills with a high level of detail.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to be able to handle multiple priorities with conflicting deadlines.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrates a high standard of confidentiality, ethics, integrity, professionalism, and customer service.
