Midway Dunkin Hiring for Staff Accountant at Proctor, Vermont Full Time

Growth Opportunity:

This position is part of the financial team that reports to the Controller and perform a variety of work assignments that requires knowledge and understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). As a critical member of the accounting team, this position will focus on general ledger activities and those activities that interface to the general ledger, while practicing effective time management to provide accounting analysis and support for all corporate entities. Our Finance team is looking for the right individual, whether an accounting major graduate or a bookkeeper with previous experience, that is willing to learn the businesses, grow in their career and with the company as it grows. The Staff Accountant supports two related but distinct organizations with shared ownership, Midway Oil Corporation, Inc., dba TenneyBrook and Donuts of Rutland, Inc. dba Dunkin’.

Midway Oil Corporation, Inc., dba TenneyBrook, is a family-owned business that began providing petroleum products and services throughout Rutland County more than 90 years ago. Today the company continues to be a leading wholesale distributor of petroleum, petroleum products and convenience store products throughout Vermont and New York. Responsibilities

· Reconciles general ledger accounts and bank statements

• · Reconciles daily cash & credit card receipts activity

· Verifies daily sales to ensure accuracy of files for a timely month-end close process

· Communicates daily results to stakeholders

• · Calculates, processes invoices, records receipt of payments for fuel distribution accounts

· Process timely journal entries to ensure accuracy of the general ledger on an ongoing basis

· Recognizes and researches questionable transactions as requested by other departments and prepares entries necessary to correct operating expenses and balance sheet accounts

· Maintains internal controls and reviews established policies and procedures to provide recommendations for improvements.

Knowledge and Skills

· The successful candidate will be a highly organized and detailed-oriented individual with excellent computer skills and can manage multiple tasks and projects at once.

· Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel needed. Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP, QuickBooks, SSCS Point of Sale system is desired

· Hands on experience in account reconciliations, preparing journal entries, financial statement review

· Excellent communication skills, professional demeanor, and the ability to take direction and work both independently and as part of a team.

· Entry to one year of related experience
