Our Administration Centre has relocated to a brand-new state of the art facility designed to inspire innovation, creativity and collaboration. The building has been named ‘Yalawanyi Ganya’ which means “sitting/meeting place” in the Gathang language of the indigenous people across the MidCoast Region.

The role & you

MidCoast Council Libraries are a foundational part of our local communities, where visitors can explore the world of creative literacy, access valuable educational resources, and engage with other community members in library events and programs. Our Library Assistants support our visitors by providing a positive customer service experience, and we currently have casual vacancies across our Taree, Forster, Tea Gardens and Gloucester Libraries.

Our Library Assistants are responsible for;

• greeting community members as they visit the library
• completing customer transactions and assisting with enquiries
• carrying out day-to-day library operations such as organising and shelving books and general tidying
• providing technological support to individuals accessing computer and internet services
• supporting the facilitation of library events and programs

Requirements for the role include;

• A passion and commitment for delivering a high level of customer service
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Knowledge and experience in Library systems and operations
• Familiarity with navigating standard PC software applications
• Current Working with Children Check or willingness to obtain
• Current Class C driver’s license

The package: $27.57 p/h plus superannuation.

Taree Library – 242 Victoria Street, Taree

Forster Library – Breese Parade, Forster

Tea Gardens Library – 135 Marine Drive, Tea Gardens

Gloucester Library – 27 Denison Street, Gloucester

Tenure: Casual
