The Commercial Software Engineering (CSE) team is a global engineering team that works directly with Microsoft’s biggest customers to help them make the most of the latest technologies, solve their toughest challenges and transform their industries using cloud-based solutions. We work in collaboration with Microsoft product teams, Microsoft Research, our partners, and open-source communities to help our customers to do more with the cloud.


Responsibilities

  • Working within a team of software engineers to design, implement, and deliver great code alongside our customers and their software engineering teams.
  • Collaborating with customers’ developers to deliver solutions using a wide range of Azure Cloud Services, open-source solutions and languages such as .NET, Java, Python and JavaScript.
  • Exercising your existing skills, learning new things, and then sharing your experiences with those around you and the broader Microsoft organisation.
  • Continuously building your technical knowledge to drive excellence in engineering for you, your team and our entire organisation.
  • Clearly and effectively communicating your ideas, through words and code.
  • Developing productive relationships with software engineers across CSE and wider Microsoft teams.


Qualifications

  • A track record of working within teams of software engineers, shipping production software.
  • Experience building cloud-native apps and cloud services in any language and any of the major cloud platforms.
  • Hands-on experience in software engineering best practices such as testing, continuous integration, continuous deployment, pull requests and code reviews, source control, work item/issue tracking.
  • Passion for technology, problem solving and continuous learning.
  • Strong verbal and written communication ability including fluency in English.
  • Experience working within geographically dispersed, diverse, and virtual teams.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, an equivalent qualification or equivalent professional experience.
  • Ability to travel regularly (up to 25%) when deemed safe.
  • This role requires the engineer to be located within the UK and have right to work.
