Position Details
#T.E.A.C.H. Instructional Coaches establish and maintain trusting and professional relationships with residents, graduates, and teaching academy staff. They communicate regularly with principals and/or headmasters and other school-based support staff. Coaches also design and facilitate content-focused programs for #T.E.A.C.H. graduates and their colleagues, including clinical experiences that advance the technical and content-knowledge needed for teaching. Instructional Coaches help Collaborating Teachers understand and utilize mentoring techniques to refine their mentoring practice and support residents’ continued growth in this challenging work. Coaches help foster and support a culture in which getting and giving feedback is customary for all #T.E.A.C.H. residents, Collaborating Teachers, and graduates.
DESCRIPTION OF JOB:
Primary Duties
Lead the instruction and coaching of #T.E.A.C.H. residents and graduates, focusing on coherence, support, and feedback.
Connect the #T.E.A.C.H. coursework and fieldwork components, helping residents experience a coherent, aligned, and focused preparation program.
Support #T.E.A.C.H.’s residency and induction components, carrying across skills, habits, and dispositions from the residency year to year.
Conduct school-based and virtual classroom observations and assessments.
Assist residents with instructional decisions based on assessment data-based and student needs.
Provide support for classroom motivation and management strategies, improvement plans, and follow through to ensure maximized use of instruction time for enhanced student learning.
Facilitate development sessions for residents.
Manage time and schedule flexibility to maximize instruction time and student learning.
Work collaboratively and collegially with other Instructional Coaches, Assignment Scorers, and #T.E.A.C.H. team members to maximize support alignment.
Perform duties as assigned by the #T.E.A.C.H. National Director of Instruction and Executive Leadership Team.
#T.E.A.C.H. Assignment Scorers are vital to the course progression phases of the residents’ matriculation in the program. Assignment Scorers offer feedback to the residents as they complete assignments grounded in researched-based best practices for K12 instruction. It is essential that Assignment Scorers provide a narrative response for each assignment that is reflective of the work submitted and is encouraging to the resident as they grow in the profession. Communication with Instructional Coaches is required to ensure consistent messaging to the residents on areas of strength and future development in the program. Assignment Scorers support a high volume of residents; therefore, self-discipline and time management are essential in this position.
Primary Duties
Evaluates and carefully scores high-volume coursework assignments completed by #T.E.A.C.H. residents in accordance with the company’s procedures, timelines, and scoring criteria.
Provides timely and comprehensive feedback on submitted assignments.
Securely and confidentially maintain scored assignments and relevant electronic notes. Files must be accessible to the assigned Instructional Coach and the Director of Instruction.
Provides ongoing feedback to Instructional Coaches and the Director of Instruction on progress completing assignments.
Utilizes a learning management system and CRM (Customer Relationship Management) platform to upload notes and document work assignments.
Actively participates in process improvement and planning discussions related to assigned tasks and projects.
Participates in virtual check-in meetings and discussions related to the job duties.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution.
Current Special Education teacher or administrator certification/endorsement through a State Board Education Authority.
Minimum of five years’ experience in an educational setting, with a record of successfully impacting student achievement and working successfully with students with the greatest needs.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution.
Current Special Education certification/endorsement through a State Board Education Authority.
Minimum 7 years experience in an educational setting, with a record of successfully impacting student achievement and working successfully with students who have the greatest needs.
Prior experience as a school leader or a leadership role in a school with supervision over teachers.
Minimum five years’ experience in an educational setting, with a record of successfully impacting student achievement and working successfully with students who have the greatest needs.
Proven ability to work cooperatively and effectively with colleagues, including the ability to create and nurture a professional community of adult learners.
Leadership qualities and strong interpersonal skills, including giving and receiving constructive feedback.
Demonstrated expertise in oral and written communication.
Evidence of professional growth, including leadership and participation in a wide range of significant professional development activities.
