MFG Hiring for Finance Internship Job at United Kingdom Full Time

As part of our ESG focus, we have pledged each year to take on a university student for a paid internship as part of their placement year. This year we are looking for a finance placement, who will be mentored by a helpful and friendly finance team. This is an opportunity to experience working in a professional and organized environment for a multi-billion-pound fuel industry retailer. Work context:

The position is for a 12 months fixed term contract with a salary of £20k. You will be working in our modern and professional St Albans based office environment 9-5 Monday to Friday with granted home working one day per week.

There will be a probationary period of three months to judge strengths and weaknesses whilst gaining understanding of financial processes then progressing on to self-accountabilities.

Main accountabilities:

• To support the finance team with month-end reporting and balance sheet reconciliation preparation.
• Posting month-end journals and providing commentary on P&L lines variances month on month and to budget.
• Support with ad hoc projects
• To improve understanding around the P&L and balance sheet.
• Support with statutory accounts preparation.
• Support with tax capital allowances calculations.
• Work in finance operations to develop understanding of core business finance processes

Knowledge and skills required:

• Studying a degree relating to accounting or finance with any additional elements such as business, management, economics etc.
• Minimum of 120 UCAS points (BBB).
• Some/basic knowledge of Microsoft 365 (specifically Excel).
• Ability to analyse large datasets and draw conclusions.
• Confidence to share opinions, challenge processes and share opinions.
