Our Opening and Your Responsibilities

An exciting new opportunity has arisen for a highly skilled Software Engineer to join a leading global supplier of industrial equipment to the food and beverage market, based in Salford. The Software Engineer will report directly to the Software Development Manager and will be responsible for working predominantly on green-field development projects, as the company aims to deliver its next generation products. The role will involve desktop software development.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Development of software for metal detection systems and supporting applications through the full life-cycle.
  • Have a collaborative approach to software development within a multi-functional R&D team, working with software, hardware & test engineers to deliver market leading products.
  • Continually strive for improvement through innovation – we strive to produce the highest quality software using industry best practices and processes.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation using defined technical documentation templates & techniques.
  • Maintain watching brief on development of new technologies, techniques and methodologies.
  • Travel as individual projects necessitate (minimal, very infrequent). MT is a large multi-national company and there are often opportunities to travel and collaborate with colleagues worldwide.

What You Need to Succeed

  • Bachelor’s degree in electronics, physics or another relevant engineering related degree. (Significant industry experience considered e.g. Computer Sciences)
  • Strong hand-on experience of commercial C# .NET development (strong C++ developers will be considered and training provided to accelerate transition to C#)
  • Experience of working with embedded systems and hardware
  • A strong knowledge of the Microsoft technology stack
  • Experience of software development using Microsoft Visual Studio & Team Foundation Server
  • Good knowledge of the .NET framework (4.6 and later, .NET Core or .NET Standard)
  • A full understanding of Object Oriented (OO) design
