About the Role
Metro is seeking multiple software engineers to join the business systems software team to contribute to the specification, development, installation and maintenance of eight in-house built applications designed and built for the use of Metro’s internal staff.
We are looking for candidates that are strong full stack Java developers who have experience in AWS and front end languages such as Angular, Angular JS and React JS. The Software Engineer will be required to be part of the 24/7 support roster.
Responsibilities
The Software Engineer will be responsible for the following:
- Reporting to the Software Delivery Lead and working alongside the technical team, the preferred candidate will be responsible for the maintenance and enhancement of existing systems along with the production of new systems.
- Liaise with professional and technical staff to set up appropriate hardware, software and operating system environments.
- Carry out integration tasks, perform data configuration and develop solutions to complex problems
- Complete development using Java, JavaScript and associated technologies in a mac and Linux environment
- Carry out complex software implementation tasks and extended periods of technical validation activities
- Upgrade and enhance various existing systems, conduct maintenance investigation and defect rectification and testing activities as required.
About You
To be successful in this role you will have the following:
- Tertiary qualification in IT, Computer Science or Software Engineering
- 5+ years’ experience conducting a variety of tasks across SDLC
- Experience in web application development including client-side JavaScript and server side API’s
- Experience in React JS, Angular and Angular JS
- Experience in Java 8 and/or 11 development
- Experience working in a Linux Environment
- Experience delivering solutions to iOS and Android platforms
- Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills
