Metalfab Ltd. Hiring for Purchasing Officer at Centreville, NB Full Time

We are seeking a driven and detail-oriented Buyer to be responsible for selecting and purchasing quality products for our business. Your responsibilities will include processing purchase orders, negotiating with suppliers, tracking orders, and liaising with Inventory team and management. The buyer will work with staff across departments to forecast the needs of the business and make purchase decisions based on demand and our MRP system.

The Buyer should be analytically minded and possess excellent negotiating skills to secure the best prices according to budget. Knowledge of mechanical components is advantageous.

Buyer Responsibilities:

• Research, select and purchase quality products and materials.
• Build relationships with suppliers and negotiate with them for the best pricing.
• Process requisitions based on our BOM’s, MRP forecasts
• Follow-up on purchase orders and expedite deliveries where necessary. Keep management updated on status of orders.
• Arrange transport of goods (including cross border clearance) and track orders to ensure timely delivery,
• Analyze market trends and apply this knowledge to make insightful buying decisions.
• Coordinate with Inventory team and management as required.
• Work with Receiving and QA and respond to any Non-Conformance / Non-Compliance and escalate / expedite to suppliers for replacement parts and credits.
• Work with accounting department to forecast timing of COD payments for large cost items.
• Work with Proposal Writers to keep cost data current.

Buyer Requirements:

• Relevant experience preferred.
• Excellent computer skills (Excel, Microsoft Word).
• Familiar with ERP software (Syspro) and asset
• Critical thinking and negotiation skills.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
