Full Job Description
Summary:
Metal Sales is the nation’s largest manufacturer of metal roofing and building systems with 21 locations across America. Our New Albany, IN branch has an opening on our production team for a Loader (Forklift Operator).
This is a permanent full-time position with a comprehensive benefits package and competitive pay!
Regular hours for this position are Monday thru Friday 6:00 am – 2:00 pm. Overtime including working on weekends may be required.
A Loader is the last person to see the product before it gets to our customer. Each product load has a direct reflection on Metal Sales and thus accuracy and care must occur with every product load.
You’ll be responsible for (but not limited to):
- Safely operating a forklift to load Metal Sales multi-stop trucks and customer will calls as they come in.
- Ensuring product is damage free and piece counts match order.
- Visually inspecting trailer before loading and ing anything unusual.
- Assisting in unloading & loading of C/C trucks as needed.
- Maintaining a safe, clean, and organized work environment and assisting in other departments as needed.
Job Requirements:
The most qualified candidates will have:
- Experience working in a distribution or manufacturing environment
- Ability to safely operate a forklift
- Basic math skills, including ability to read a tape measure
- Ability to work independently and with others
- High school diploma or GED
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Must be able to read, hear, talk, drive lift trucks, wear PPE, and lift up to 75 lbs. repetitively
- Must be able to stand, walk, and/or sit approximately 7 ½ hours minimum per work shift
- Must be able to tolerate extreme temperature changes in the winter and summer months
- Noise level is moderate to loud
