Role Description
Dean of Community Learning
Overview
Meriden is actively breaking away from the traditional model of school education. As part of this pursuit, the
Dean of Community Learning will investigate, initiate and oversee exciting and innovative connections with the
wider community that will bring worthwhile learning and growth opportunities to the School for Meriden girls.
He/she will be a member of the Dean team and on the School’s Leadership team.
The Dean of Community Learning will have a strong sense of the trajectory of education in Australia, and be
able to investigate, introduce and oversee bold but realistic ideas for the benefit of the education of Meriden
girls.
Leadership
The Dean of Community Learning contributes to the leadership of the School in all its areas – academically,
pastorally, cocurricularly and spiritually. This includes attending staff prayer meetings, publicly praying as
required, leading Bible devotions as required, and modelling a Christian lifestyle. Attendance at, and
contribution to, leadership discussions and meetings are inherent in the role. The Dean of Community Learning
attends all formal school functions in a leadership capacity, and attends informal school functions as often as
possible.
Staff reporting to the Dean of Community Learning include:
The Dean of Community Learning reports to the Head of Campus, the Head of Teaching and Learning and/or
the Head of Student Wellbeing as necessary, and works closely with the Dean team in areas of overlap and
dual interest such as community service and global programs.
