Overview:

The Data Engineer – Finance, as part of the Financial Performance team, will support the Manager – Manager – Finance Data Engineering in optimal data delivery throughout ongoing finance projects. They must be self-directed and comfortable building, supporting, and troubleshooting datasets and data pipelines from multiple data sources. These data pipelines will require collaboration with other co-workers with diverse data specialties (e.g. analyst, scientist, and visualization) and business units. They should be proficient with Standard Query Language (SQL) within enterprise data systems (e.g. Oracle, Microsoft Azure Databricks, and Microsoft SQL Server). They should have knowledge and basic experience with Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) and Extract, Load, and Transform (ELT) processes. Mercy has an incredible amount of patient care data with millions of distinct patients seen each year and increasing capacity to integrate additional data from external resources. This is a great opportunity to enter or expand your experience with Healthcare data management given finance interaction with data from all levels of a healthcare system (e.g. hospital, clinics, virtual, and preventive care). The candidate should be able to effectively document, communicate and execute project plans, and deliver outputs within a tight timeline budget. They will perform duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science/Analytics, Management, or Finance. Master’s degree in similar field preferred.
Licensure: Obtain EPIC Clarity Certification within first year.
Experience: Have at least 1 year experience in a similar role.
Other skills & knowledge (skills, knowledge, abilities):

• Advanced working Standard Query Language (SQL) skills. Including ability to read query plans and troubleshoot underperforming SQL code.
• 1 or more years experience with object-oriented/object function scripting languages: Python, R, Scala, PowerShell, Java, etc.
• 1 or more years experience with Relational Database Management System (RDBMS) which includes but not limited to schemas, tables, indexes, stored procedures, views, and partitions.
• Experience with cloud data platforms (Microsoft Azure (Preferred), Amazon Web Services or Google)
• 1 or more years experience with enterprise ETL/ELT or orchestrating tools: IBM DataStage, SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), Informatica, Automic/UC4, etc.
• 1 or more years experience with data visualization technologies: PowerBI, QLIK, Tableau, etc.
• Possess a working knowledge of descriptive and introductory inferential statistics, programming, and predictive modeling.
• Utilize analytical skills to critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, and abstract up from low-level information to a more general understanding.
• Possess strong organizational skills, an orientation toward detail, and be a team player.
• Experience supporting and working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment.
• Understanding of scientific standards for communication of health care data in the US.
• Successfully meet project deadlines.
