The Role:
We are looking for a Director, Applications & Information Technology who wants the opportunity to take their existing leadership skills to the next level, leading software development for an exciting fintech. The successful candidate will be strongly self-motivated and work independently while thriving in collaboration and brainstorming sessions.
In this role, you will oversee the software and systems engineering projects, applications programs and infrastructure at Merchant Growth. You will be both a hands-on builder capable of creating innovative solutions as well as a technology leader. You will be the voice of the department with a keen eye for spotting talent while mentoring and inspiring your team members to deliver on the company’s strategic goals. You will have strong communication skills to collaborate and work cross-functionally within the organization.
As a Director, Applications & Information Technology you will be looking for opportunities to establish and improve software development, operational processes, IT while engaging with key stakeholders of the organization.
Responsibilities
Set priorities for incoming projects and coordinate software development work between yourself and other software team members
Architect, design, and build new software and services
Manage all aspects of software development, conduct code reviews, maintain back-end processes, core-banking, and data infrastructure systems
Keep on top of modern approaches and best practices and apply them to improve existing and planned infrastructure
Collaborate with the Product and Data teams to produce reliable, scalable, and streamlined solutions
Work directly with the VP Product on strategies around IT priorities
Manage the company’s growing team of software developers, including both outside contractors and full-time employees
Evaluate new technologies/opportunities to improve the efficiency and capability of the company’s IT systems
Critically and continually assess the technology strategy and ensure alignment with the company’s strategic goals
Maintain clear documentation during the development lifecycle and release
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
Computer Science degree or equivalent
Experience in application development with hands-on full-stack coding experience
Strong knowledge of C# and the .NET platform, building desktop and web applications
Experience with SQL, SQL Server, and database design
Worked with/implemented source control systems like Git or SVN
Familiar with cloud hosting like AWS
Experience with WinForms and Asp.NET Web API
Good understanding of OOP, design patterns, and design principles

4+ years of experience in a leadership position

Confidence and proven experience leading a team, and executing on deliverables using process-driven methodology
Proactively nurtures cross-functional relationships through various methods of engagement
Experience facilitating weekly standups, ideation/brainstorming sessions, learning sessions, icebreakers & onboarding
