The role of the Business Analyst is to deliver high quality business analyst project outcomes and solutions that enable valued business outcomes and informed decisions by key stakeholders.

Typical activities include planning, requirements elicitation and documentation, requirements lifecycle management, facilitation of solution design, requirements validation and traceability, stakeholder management and providing support to other teams involved in the project delivery.

This role is an integral part of the project delivery function for our Client Program Delivery team. It contributes to ensuring that the needs of the organization and clients / customers identified in the project are implemented.

The Analyst teams are located in Melbourne and Wollongong but engage with Mercer staff and clients across Australia, New Zealand and our Global Service Delivery teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform Planning activities to determine the best approach and techniques for self on the project
• Analyse requirements, solution analysis and estimate of effort for detailed quotes within the analysts’ expertise
• Elicit, analyse and document requirements using appropriate techniques
• Perform stakeholder analysis and establish strong internal and external stakeholder relationships
• Ensure requirements traceability is managed and maintained throughout the project lifecycle
• Perform solution analysis to ensure that solution meets the needs of the requirements
• Prepare functional and technical specifications
• Manage requirements through the project lifecycle including liaising with data, test and systems analysts
• Elicit existing processes, document Current State, analyse change & identify best practice to determine Future State, perform Gap Analysis to determine impact to BAU;
• Support test team activities including triage and impact analysis
• Provide learnings back to Analyst Team and to contribute to continuous improvement
• Perform Peer Review activities for other analysts project work
• Participate in training and mentoring of team members
• Identify opportunities to uplift value from existing solutions
• Develop new artifacts for re-use and to improve efficiency
• Prepare Business cases for new solutions or designs
• Lead and support other analysts
• Support Team Lead and Delivery Lead with strategy and planning
• Any other tasks (as agreed) that are required to deliver a successful project

• Strong skills in core Business Analysis deliverables: Business Analysis Planning and Monitoring, Elicitation and Collaboration, Requirements Life Cycle Management, Strategy Analysis, Requirements Analysis and Design Definition, Solution Evaluation
• Working knowledge of Agile, Lean and Waterfall project methodologies
• Demonstrate strong customer / client service orientation with empathy for and effectively response to customer / clients’ needs. Good understanding of end-to-end customer / client experience
• Focus on delivering product quality and customer / client value
• Apply critical thinking to solve known or anticipated problems
• Embrace continuous learning and growing
• Work effectively with strong stakeholder management, communication, engagement skills

Desirable:

• Relevant Tertiary and/or ASFA accreditation
• Previous experience in the financial services industry, particularly the superannuation industry
• Sound working knowledge of superannuation (or similar) systems and business functions
• Experience in using collaboration and work flow tools, incl. JIRA and Confluence
• IIBA qualifications, Certificate Competency in Business Analysis (CCBA) Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) or equivalent
• Agile Business Analyst Certification: Certified Scrum Business Analyst (CSBA), PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (ACP), or similar
