Menzies School of Health Research is looking engage a Postdoctoral Fellow for the role of Research Officer, who will be part of the NHMRC Healthy Environments And Lives (HEAL) network.

The HEAL Network is a collaboration of over 30 organisations from across Australia aiming to catalyse research, knowledge exchange and translation into policy and practice that will bring measurable improvements to our health, the Australian health system, and the environment. Menzies is leading the Northern Territory node and the Rural and Remote theme of the HEAL network.

This role will work collegially with a diverse range of stakeholders in order to strengthen the evidence-base pertaining to climate change and its impact on the environment and apply it in order to maintain and improve the health of rural and remote Australians. You will work closely with a team of researchers based in Alice Springs, Darwin and Lismore.

With over 35 years of achievement in health and medical research, Menzies is currently setting its strategic direction over the future 5 years. This is an exciting time to join this network.

What you will bring to the role

To be successful in this role you must be highly motivated, organised, able to work in a fast-paced environment. You will have experience in qualitative data collection and analysis and mixed methods studies, and be responsible for creating original contributions, co-design and conduct collaborative research, data analysis and synthesis towards the research and academic endeavours with limited supervision.

You also possess:

• A PhD in environment or health sciences or equivalent qualifications with research experience.
• Demonstrated highly developed writing skills, including the ability to achieve tight deadlines, which has resulted in contributions to peer-reviewed publications and high-level reports.
• Demonstrated understanding of ethical considerations of research.
• The ability to build strong productive relationships within an organisation and collaborative external partnerships. Well-developed capacity to consult, collaborate and negotiate effectively with people from diverse cultures and a wide range of stakeholders.
• Excellent computer skills including demonstrated experience using Microsoft Office software, online literature and reference databases and data analysis software.
